    Brilliant!!!

This is the best idea I have seen in years.  I will be picking up some sticky mouse traps this morning.

I get calls almost everyday from non-beekeepers as beekeepers alike asking what to do about these pesky hornets, yellow jackets, wasps, etc.

Unless you find the nest, this is a very good way to deal with them.  If you can find the nest, then poison them to ensure you get the queen and all.  A little hornet poison isolated to their nest will not be a serious bother to the bees.

    I love it.

Thought this was interesting... Paige told me about putting out sticky mouse traps with a little bit of meat on it. Yellow jackets hover over the ground. I put this out about 5:00 pm last night next to my hive - seems to be another avenue to combat yellow jackets.

Interestingly...we just discovered that WD40 kills yellow jackets almost instantly. And if you get the can that has the stick thing for the nozzle, you can shoot WD40 pretty far We just got rid of several nests that way. Would be best to do at night once the jerks are back at the nest

Traps aren't going to get rid of a nest because there is brood that will hatch, and if you don't catch the queen there will continue be brood. For example, we got rid of all the visible nests around our property two weeks ago. I just refreshed my traps yesterday and have already caught 40-50 yellow jackets between 2 traps. I use the WHY traps. AND I still have yellow jackets harassing my hive, although my bees are doing a good job of fending them off.

Ugh - the yellow jackets are super annoying.... Good luck!
